An Aomori original! Introducing a new concept room with Nebuta decorations

(3/1/2024 ) (Fri)

On March 1st, 2024 (Friday), ART HOTEL Aomori launched the new Nebuta Twin guest rooms based on Aomori’s Nebuta Festival—the first of its kind in Aomori City. We are accepting reservations from February 21st (Wednesday).

Every year, the Aomori Nebuta Festival attracts more than 2 million visitors from Japan and abroad from August 2 to 7. As one of the three major festivals in the Tohoku region, it holds the designation of an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan. This unique concept room infused with Aomori Nebuta (traditional Japanese lanterns) culture includes unique lanterns designed after Aomori apples.

The Nebuta are made by Hiromi Hayashi, an active Nebuta artist. The room includes unique Nebuta lanterns designed to look like apples, a specialty of Aomori, and ruddy kingfisher birds for an appealing touch of light. The wallpapers also feature graphical designs of haneto (jumping people) dancers, a common sight during the Aomori Nebuta Festival.

We hope you enjoy your stay in Aomori, along with the many Aomori-evoking artworks that decorate the hotel.

ART HOTEL Aomori features artwork reflecting the traditions of Aomori throughout the hotel. A massive Nebuta welcomes you at the lobby. We hope you enjoy discovering Aomori throughout the hotel, including the traditional Tsugaru Vidro crafts, the goldfish Nebuta said to bring fortune, and Tsugaru-nuri, which are traditional lacquerware from Aomori’s Tsugaru region.
